[Furniture] Thursday's Picks

The Seattle-area CL gets so many posts that I oftentimes limit my searches to just furniture listings.  Here are some good-looking furniture items posted today on the Seattle-area CL for $20 and under:

Click on the photo to be taken to the original post.

At $10 this coffee table seems like a good deal.  I like the look of the legs too.

This bathroom cabinet is listed for $20.  It looks pretty clean and seems like it could be a helpful item for a bathroom in need of more storage space.

The title for this post reads "Antique 1920s Mahogany Bentwood Armchair" and that sounds pretty cool to me.  I also like the color of the seat.

This is an IKEA table but I like the look of it.  It's listed for $20.

This table looks pretty standard but for $10 I think it might be a good buy.

There are 5 of these chairs available.  You can buy one for $7 or all 5 for $30.

This is my favorite listing of the day.  I like metal lockers and I really like the shelves inside this one.  It's listed for $20 and I think that's a good deal.

Tuesday's Picks

Since moving back to Seattle, I have been helping my contractor dad tidy up his workshop. I put a free table out front and we have been adding items to it pretty regularly.  It has been really fun to watch people stop to check out the items.  Things move a lot faster than I would have guessed.  Who knew there was a demand for used roof waterproofing and driveway patch....I should have known, we are in Seattle after all.

There are a lot of great local finds on the Seattle CL today.  Here are my favs:

Free!

I really like these canisters.  For $15 I think they are a pretty good deal. (Better pictures can be viewed by clicking on the photo below)

Owls are hot right now. We can all agree on that, right?  Save yourself some dough by buying your owl salt and pepper shakers locally. Here is a set listed for sale online.  And here is a similar set available locally and for less:

I loved playing Candy Land when I was younger!  Here is a vintage edition available in Ballard for $5:

This looks like a nice IKEA chair to me and it costs about as much as just the gas would be just to drive to IKEA:

This is hands-down my favorite pick of the day..maybe even the month...maybe even longer. If I had a place to put this I would have bought it already.  It's beautiful and only $10.  If you buy it, please send me a photo so I can be insanely jealous.

[Ballard] Friday's Picks

Hello!  I am ashamed to see that it has been almost a month since my last post.  A lot of changes have been made since I last wrote...as of now, Lu's List has moved to Ballard!  As a tribute to Lu's List's new home I am featuring items located in Ballard from the Seattle CL.

I love arc lamps and if you have searched on Amazon for them, you can believe there aren't any available for $20.

Brown Arc Floor Lamp 1970's
$20
Ballard

I bought this floor lamp at Space oddity a few years back. It is brown enamel, stands 59" high and 32" at widest points.
Though it's time for us to part ways, I will miss it and I hope it finds a good new home!

This leather recliner is just about exactly the type of item I would expect to find in Ballard and I like it!

Comfy Brown Leather Recliner
$20
Ballard

***Price Reduced***

Soft and comfy, with few small tears. ~ 34 in x 29 x 34 (when not reclined). Reclines and returns to normal position easily and smoothly. Comes from non-smoking non-pet home.

Cash Only. Must pick up from Ballard.

I am so bummed I can't go to this garage sale, I have to work, otherwise I would be outside their door at exactly 10 am on Saturday.

[My Finds] Shoes, Cabinets and Dishes!

The items featured below were bought in the Spokane area but I still wanted to share some of my recent buys.

I found this set of dishes on the Spokane CL for only $10!  There are so many dishes in this awesome set that I had to put some in storage.

The set includes dinner plates, salad plates, dessert plates, bowls, tea cups and saucers, serving bowls and platters!

I love them and can't wait to use them at a dessert party we are hosting this week!

I found these shoes at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Division for $3.98 plus tax.  I definitely thought twice about buying used shoes from a thrift store but they looked brand new and I cleaned them before wearing them.  If shoes could pay for themselves in compliments earned then this pair has definitely paid for themselves in the few weeks I have owned them.  I have loved womens reactions to them, literally one customer at my work exclaimed "Hang on a minute! We have to talk about your shoes!"

The brand is called New Twist and I can't find any shoes by them online, I am assuming its some cheapo brand but I love them!

My last buy is a small medicine cabinet for our bathroom.  Our apartment came with this funky wood and metal shelf in the bathroom that doesn't match the style of the space at all.  When I saw this cute cabinet at UGM on Washington for $1.99 plus tax, I snagged it.  It works well for a bit more storage space and looks a lot better than the shelf we used before.

[FREE] Tuesday's Picks

Here are the latest FREE ads posted on the Seattle area CL worth mentioning:

This person is giving away two awesome mid-century lawn chair frames. They even have the webbing to complete them!

Finish the Project? Vintage Patio Chairs
South Seattle
FREE

I started this project but obviously will never finish it.

These patio chairs are a mid century design that have some value as collectibles. As you can see from the photo one of them has had the webbing removed and been painted and the other is in it's original condition. I even have the new webbing you can install.

If you would like to take over the project and can pick them up in South Seattle then you are welcome to them.

I love light up signs and this one is FREE!

Lightup Art Piece
Downtown Seattle
FREE

I have a large art piece that I am going to have to throw out if I cant find a home for in the next few days.

The piece is from a SIFF Fly Film that I worked on a bit over a year ago, and it has been sitting in storage since I have no where to hang it anymore.
It is a 14ft x 4ft circus style light up marquee with two side flats that are 4ft x 8ft. The theme of the piece is "Fame and Fortune" and it features some really great 2D characteratures on it.
I need to get rid of this piece in THIS WEEK.

As I have said before, I see a lot of leather couches on CL.  This one looks to be in better condition than most and is FREE.

Italian Leather Couch
Capitol Hill
FREE

Natuzzi italian leather couch. Super comfortable and generous size make this an excellent nap couch. This is a very soft and open leather, which makes it feel fantastic. Downside is that the leather wears and stains. It's a little more than ten years old, so somewhat worn, but it's quality material.

If you have played indoor soccer at Magnuson Park in the last few years, you have probably noticed this HUGE salmon sculpture.  It can now be yours for FREE!!

Free Yard Art - Salmon Sculpture
Magnuson Park
FREE

Need a reason to impress the neighbors? Maybe you need a whopper of a sculpture!

Magnuson Park is ready to release a prized green-gilled land salmon to one lucky person. It is currently resting in front of the firehouse on NE 74th Street. Basically a metal framework in detachable sections, covered by painted corregated plastic sheets, it has small inflatable tires and a tow hitch. Moveable but like most salmon - NOT STREET LEGAL. It also needs a little TLC before moving to its new habitat. Dimensions: 7 x 10 x 33FT.
