[FREE] Monday's Finds

Monday is seeing some good free listings on Seattle's Craigslist.  Remember, free items go fast!

I think these chairs are alright looking.  You could paint them to match your decor and it looks like it would be pretty easy to replace the cushions.

Factoria

Free - 2 chairs - you pick up

This ad lists a few things, including a leather couch and a china cabinet all for the right price of FREE!
Bellevue
FREE

Modular Corner Desk Top. Purchased from JCPENNEY 3 years ago. Some wear where the chair has bumped it, but can easily be covered with a paint/stain marker. Dark brown with reddish undertones and a keyboard tray. Much like this: http://www5.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=1760d28&DeptID=70752&CatID=70842&SO=0&Ne=5+586+18+904+949+833&shopperType=G&N=4294953275&Nao=0&PSO=0&CmCatId=70752|70842

Beigh leather couch set. Includes couch, loveseat, and chair. All are oversized and still very comfortable. The couch absorbed colors from red pillows we had on it, so it's kind of pink in the corners. We seriously considered just putting slipcovers over them and continue using them, but they are still too big for our space.

Oak and glass china display cabinet with lights. We're keeping the base, but have no need for a tower of glass with three boys running around. It's dimensions are 47.7"W X 47"H X 16"D. The glass is smoked glass with brass accents.
I painted an old dresser like this a few years back and loved the finish product, I think this one could be great with a little spiffing up!

Duvall
FREE

Come and get it. Nice piece, but is used and free.

I think Dania carries nice furniture, so what's better than getting FREE Dania furniture? Click on the post's title to see more photos included on the original ad.

FREE

Head board, side tables and a 6 drawer dresser. In good shape, not perfect like the tracks for the drawers are off a little but it works. This is teak so it is heavy. Please come pick up today or tomorrow before noon at the latest. FREEEEEEEEEE

Sunday's Finds

Sunday brings an eclectic mix of posts on Seattle's Craigslist.  Here are my favorites:

Click on the post's title to be taken to the original ad with purchase information.

I like that this magazine rack uses rope to hold the magazines in place.

Capitol Hill
$20

Great retro magazine rack - light wood frame with black rope supports and iron legs. Very nice condition.

I think this dinosaur box is too cute and it fits my motto for buying housewares to a T,  "If you have to have it, why not make it fun, exciting, or unique?"

Sammamish
$18

This toy box is made by Rubbermaid and is in great condition, no cracks or holes.

Can be used as a hamper for clothing too. Great toybox and made to last!
about 18" high and 30" long

$10 for a set of pretty glasses seems pretty reasonable to me.  Take a look at the original ad to see more pictures.

Tacoma
$1o

A set of 4 Beautiful Holiday Glasses. Here are four glasses, little over 6 inches tall, 3 3/4 inches in diameter, the open top, and 3 1/4 inches across the base. There are white etched stars scattered around the sides. They are sturdy glasses, and a really nice shape to hold. They are in excellent condition, no cracks or chips. They would make lovely Christmas and New Year Eve glasses. The color is changing like carnival.. At night time they are like more purple/pink and at daytime they are more blue/purplish. They are BEAUTY!

Seeing as Seattle is the coffee capitol of the world, you probably have one of these already.  In the off chance that you don't, this one seems cheap!

Greenlake/Northgate
$8

Mr Coffee burr coffee-bean grinder.

After looking at today's Seattle Craigslist posts, I feel comfortable in recommending people save themselves a trip to IKEA by looking on CL first.  There were so many IKEA items listed that I think you could find the exact item you are looking for at a cheaper price while saving yourself to drive to Renton.  There was a Malm bed listed for $15.

West Seattle
$20

"Set of 3 Black/Brown Klubbo Nesting Tables from Ikea. Some scratches/scuffing on the wood surfaces, and some scuffing/paint scrapes on the legs. Can be repaired with paint, Ikea repair pen, or a Sharpie marker. Some minor sharpie repairs already performed.

Sadly, the "nesting" nature of these tables makes them prone to getting chips/scuffs since the furniture gurus at Ikea failed to realize that when you have stackable tables that fit so tightly together, people rarely manage to nest them without dragging the metal legs across the crappy wood veneer.

But they look pretty frickin' sweet when you have them arranged like a stairstep coffee table. They're also lightweight and easy to carry. Makes a great nightstand, coffee table, bathroom table, end table, or kitschy stacked modern art display."

Here is a set of two on the IKEA site for $79.99:  http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30135026

This bike is the right price: FREE!  Get it while you can.

Belltown
FREE

Free Men's bike plus extras. I bought this bike around 5 years ago for $500 but has spent the last three years on my covered porch. The tires are currently flat and probably needs a tune up badly.

Comes with 4 extra tubes, two pumps, a lock and various tools.

Must be ready to take everything.

I find these two PEZ dispensers quite funny.  They are listed separately and for $12 each.  You can go to the original ad by clicking on the respective photo.

Lu's List Seattle

I began Lu's List about a month ago, sharing postings I see on the Spokane Craigslist. I had have some requests to expand to different cities so this will be Lu's List for Seattle.  As a native Seattleite, I feel the need to fully disclose that Lu's List Seattle will include listings from the surrounding cities as well.
It is a hobby of mine to search local Craigslist postings to see what is available for free or for under $20.  This hobby has taught me that there are many useful, beautiful and unique items out there for cheap.  Since it is not reasonable for me to buy all of the great things I find on Craigslist, I started Lu's List to share the finds with others.  It is my hope that the items I feature on this blog will help others understand the value in buying local, pre-owned items and maybe even help someone find that perfect item they've been searching for.

I will be sharing items listed on http://seattle.craigslist.org.  I would love to see your Craigslist finds so please share in an email or a comment.  Feedback and suggestions are always appreciated.
